Here I am once again in Mormonland. Once again, it was soooo hard to fly in First Class once again. I started talking with the guy who was sitting next to me. He also served a mission for the Church in the early 70's in the Netherlands. He was pretty cool. I told him what I am studying and what I would like to do with it, and he gave me the information for a contact he has in NSA. I'm still a ways off from choosing a career, but NSA would be sweet I think. I mentioned before the program they have for students in which they pay your books and tuition and all that jazz while you work for them during the summer and for at least a few years after you graduate. He suggested that I call the person and find out what working there is like and stuff. I am not 100% sure if I will, since it will be kind of random and awkward, but maybe I will. I don't have any specific questions right now, though. Nevertheless, I shall mull over the matter and decide soon.
Well, since I last updated on Wednesday, what have I done....[trying to remember]
On Wednesday I helped in another one of those projects to put kitchen kits together for hurricane victimes. It was pretty cool.
On Thursday I did some goodbye's. Bessy stopped by my house for a few to say adios, and after that Hillary came over. She and I hung out and talked for about 5 hours in my basement. It was really nice to talk with her, reminiscing about the good ol days at GHP and discussing life in general, especially stuff about the opposite sex. As most guys, I am naturally dense and have a hard time figuring out what's going on when it comes to relating with girls, so I got some good insight from her.
Yesterday I arrived at 4:00 PM at the Salt Lake Airport. Camila picked me up and we hung around Salt Lake for a couple hours. We went back to Provo and babysat her niece Katie. I can't remember exactly how old she is, but she is just barely learned to walk, if that helps. She is really adorable. She can say my name, but she refuses to say Camila's. It's too hard for her, so Camila tells her to call her "tia" which is Portuguese (and Spanish) for aunt, though in Brasilian it is pronounced "chia" like "chia pet". Instead, she just says, "YODA!" Believe it or not, that was actually her first word! Yoda. Who'd've thunk? So we hung out for 11 hours in total, as I went home at 3 AM. I just started unpacking my crap this afternoon.
Around lunchtime I went out shopping. Media Play is closing down in the entire state of Utah, so they have almost everything at least 50 percent off. Much of the store was stripped, and it was practically a madhouse there with all the people present, but I managed to find a bunch of stuff for my cellphone. I got a nice little leather...holster? What do you call that thing? Cellphone...holder...anyway, it is pretty nice, better than the plastic one I had before. I couldn't even get the phone out half of the time when I used it. I also got a hands-free feem, as well as a new charger with retractable cable and a nice fake wood-appearing finish (like the interior of my car). I also got some of those disposable batteries, thsoe things you plug in which give you up to an hour of power while recharing the battery at the same time. Muy convenient. I was pleased. The most expensive of those items was a little more than 7 bucks.
I ate lunch at Beto's with James today. We have concluded that there is little food which is more satisfying than a Beto's chimichanga de carne asada. I don't know what they put in that thing, some sort of amphetamine or endorphine-inducing feem. Mmmmmmm. Those things are even good at 1 AM.
Within about two hours, I will go hang out with Camila and probably Lili. I'm not quite sure what we'll do, but we shall see. We actually watched Ghostbusters yesterday in Spanish with Portuguese subtitles (so I can continue improving my Portuguese).
