Another fine day

We made a trip down to Agway farm store to buy some plants for the garden. We're going to try eggplant this year, but I'm not entirely sure if we can pass it off. They like really warm weather, and let's face it, it's not exactly hot up here. Even within our own area, we tend to be 5-10 degrees cooler because of the elevation. So, we'll see. The tomato mulch is definitely doing it's job. I decided to go ahead and get one this year, and after a week of covering the soil, the bed's temperature was noticeably warmer. Here's to hoping or the best.

We have a lot of new chicks this spring. My class' project ended up hatching more chicks than last year. They've all pretty much feathered out to the point that they look like skeksis,  only nicer:)  the break down of the hatch:  6 Red Star crosses, 7 barred rocks (with the crosses from last year mixed in) and 9 Icelandic.  I also got 4 Ameracauna pullets.  They lay blue/green eggs. I am looking forward to that.  I really have to get some pictures up.
