Of all the things that made my day a living hell, my Curriculum Vitae (otherwise known as CV) tops it.

Who knew it'd be an easy pair of hands to update the damn thing when it's struck on lonely lecture mode? It absoluetely refuses to be modified, be it in Microsoft Words, Internet, Google, Power Point, Paint and whatever else I know that could help ( Read more... )

I would suggest searching in google of "how to take ownership of a word-file". Never tried it, but I recently heard about it and that it's possible so yup!
Good luck ;3;

First, what kind of document is it? Word-file, pdf, some other kind of file?

Second, you can't edit it because your PC thinks you're not the owner of this document. That's why it's in "read-only" mode.
As far as I know, the only way to stop it from being read-only, is that you have to take ownership of this file.
Dunno how to do that exactly, but you can google it. that's what I meant c:

Just google "How to take ownership of xxx-file" *where "xxx" is the type of file your document is. Like Word-file, PDF-file, HTML-file etc.*

Microsoft Word file document.

I went on mom's account, logged onto my hotmail box and downloaded the file under a different title. I got to edit it after telling it it shouldn't be in read-only mode, though the question still pops up every time I open the document. It's annoying, but better than not being able to touch it at all. At least my CV's now up and ready to go to my new job's employer... hopefully there's still some places for me to get in.
