You may end up feeling very sorry you asked this question in a forum where I could interpret it as directed at me. :P
You've already started reading Kate Atkinson's Jackson Brodie novels, right? If not, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR????
I would also recommend Bel Canto, Animal's People, and The Book Thief. They're all really great stories.
Other recs:
Fun, easy reads: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime - Mark Haddon, The Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries - Charlaine Harris, About a Boy - Nick Hornby,
Good mysteries: The Harry Hole series - Jo Nesbø, The Thief Taker - Janet Gleeson, The Joe Leaphorn/Jim Chee Novels - Tony Hillerman
Thinky reads: The Woman Who Walked into Doors - Roddy Doyle, Wide Open - Nicola Barker, Property - Valerie Martin, The White Castle - Orhan Pamuk
Wild Adventures: Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell - Susanna Clark, Travels with Myself and Another - Martha Gellhorn
Epic Love Stories: Oscar and Lucinda - Peter Carey, Fingersmith - Sarah Waters, The English Patient - Michael Ondaatje
