As I head into the last day of our honeymoon by packing up a giant box to ship back home, I am coming to the realization that despite all the rough spots on this trip, this honeymoon has been a smashing success. Not just memorable (which on its own does not indicate whether the experience was positive or negative) but unabashedly wonderful.
I say this because I finally figured out what is most important to me in a honeymoon: spending time with my wife. I spent very little time thinking about work or friends or family or long-term goals or sacrifice or politics. My life for the past week and a half was just about the two of us, and that was unabashedly wonderful.
Another indication that this trip has been an unequivocal success is that I am both sad to leave but looking forward to returning home. And now my wife has woken up, so it's time for me to wrap this up and dive into the day.
