School, Junk Food and SLEEP

Yesterday, I went to my son's school end-of-year ceremony.  I was very proud to note that he won a fairly prestigious award, which was not bad for a first year student! :-)

On the way home, however, I nearly had an accident due to lack of sleep.  Now those of you who know me know that I'm a very good driver, with attention skills to match.  Yesterday, however, was too much even for me.  We pulled over at a gas station, had a nap and stocked up on all those sugary and caffeine filled things that are bad for you (they aren't food).  Then we filled up the car's tank as well and off we went.  More amazing junky food at Smoke Meat Pete's and then home.

When I got back to my apartment, I knew I had to sleep.  As I was also a bit wound up from a number of things, I also knew that I had to take no chances.  I took off my shoes and other restrictive clothing, turned on the TV at a low volume and stretched out on the couch.

The next thing I knew it was 2 hours later.  MUCH better.  I proceeded to stay near that magical couch and did it again at night minus the TV.  I woke up at 5:00 AM, again on the couch.  I never actually made it to my bed! :-)  However, I now feel rested and alert.  I'd almost forgotten what that felt like!

As to why I'm wound up, well, there are a number of reasons.  Seeing my son, organizing my daughter's sweet 16 for today (actually 2nd one; her mother did the first) and going out to an amazing show Friday night are but three.  The truly wonderful woman who accompanied me to the show is another. ;-)
