Hello all! I am back to regular posting (or rather, I have decided that I shall commence regular posting to my LJ from now onwards, having never quite managed the feat in all the months since I signed on!) I am finally getting settled into my new flat and new job a month after moving in. There have been a few glitches on the way (beds still haven't been delivered, and am just recovering from a nasty bout of flu), but in the main, things are coming together decently enough. I am completely in love with my new flat! I never thought I'd be able to afford to buy a place in London, but thanks to my parents' chipping in, and despite a rather hefty mortgage, I am very glad I bought this place.
If only I could say I enjoyed my current Psychiatry posting as much. It isn't so much the patients (although they can sometimes be a bit of a handful) as the HR department who are unhelpful in the extreme, and completely demoralise the medical staff with their pettiness and sometimes, downright rudeness. However, I thought I would save that particular rant for another occasion as I am feeling rather mellow today on my antibiotics and after having had the rare opportunity for an afternoon nap (my clinic having been mysteriously cancelled).
So here are three pieces of good news instead:
1. I am going to visit the wonderful, witty and warm
dickgloucester during the first Bank Holiday weekend in May. She has been a great support to me via our frequent Gmail chats and it strikes me as amazing how well we are getting along, given the short amount of time that we have known one another. LJ really is great in this respect, and I am so thankful that this new world has been opened up to me, and that I have had the opportunity to meet you all here in the ether. The flight tickets are booked and confirmed, annual leave has been approved, and I am squeeing with anticipation and glee. Dicky, here I come; you can't back out now!
2. I have also managed to book my flights to Portus, yipee! It appears that I am quite productive when unwell. Again, will be sharing a hotel room with Dicky, and am hoping we don't discover in May that we are horribly mis-suited to be roommates ;-)
3. Portus news again! I am very proud and grateful to have been accepted by the lovely Snapecast staff to be on their Snape Divide Panel at Snapefest. Hurray! I shall be representing the faction of people who liked Snape the same as they did prior to DH. (The other viewpoints being those who liked him more, and those who liked him less, oddly enough.) Now I have to think of clever, coherent arguments to justify my insane obsession. I don't think squeeing through the whole debate is quite what they are looking for. Although that is all I was thinking about when I sent my email, as I was just so very delighted to have been one of the lucky few to get registered for the event. It was the main reason I signed up for Portus in the first place, but now I am excitedly looking forward to all that the con has to offer, including Cosplaying a Death Eater! This has got to be one of the zaniest things I have ever done. (Gives you some idea of how mundane my day- to-day life usually is, doesn't it?)
