The Great (half) Cross-Country Adventure Begins!

Well, it's not really that momentous. I'm driving back east for the holidays, and it is a dull dull drive, let me tell you. I made it from Austin to just east of Memphis today, driving for about nine and a half hours. On the plus side, I'm making a dent in my iPod! I also maintain that there is no such thing as Arkansas...every time I've driven through it, it's either been dark or raining. Today it was both. So I'm going to hazard a guess that there's trees and roads and signs, and that's it.

I had time to do a lot of daydreaming today, which was probably not as safe as it could have been. No accidents or speeding tickets for me - but I did see a nasty rental truck-18 wheeler accident just before I stopped for the night. *shudder* No ambulances by the time I got there, but if there was a passenger in the rental truck...it would be a miracle if they survived.

Tomorrow, I'm aiming to make Knoxville or someplace over the Virginia border, and be back "home" by Tuesday evening, at the latest. Hubby triumphantly texted me today that he is done with all his shopping AND the stockings...and I've barely even started! Fortunately, I really only have to concentrate on him at this point.

Here's to hoping I can get back on a normal sleep schedule and get on the road earlier than noon tomorrow. Sheesh.
