It happened again. Events have once more conspired to place me in the position of owning my second sword. It's a Chinese broadsword, with some Chinese characters on the blade. The hilt looks like black lacquer with a brass-colored leaf/ivy design. This one has a carrying case, so at least it doesn't look quite like a sword when I'm carrying it to my car.
I've also acquired my great-uncle's old Japanese World War II rifle. It comes with a bayonet and knife. It's got Japanese characters on the barrel. My grandmother says that at the end of the war lots of sailors and soldiers traded their weapons with the Japanese soldiers. I've managed to get the bolt stuck in the open position, so I'm going to have to find the WD-40 to get it to slide back in. (Does that sound vaguely like a double entendre to anyone else?)
Again, why no prior warning? It's a vast conspiracy I tell you...
