Let's share some pretties!

A bunch of people I know are traveling right now, and it occurred to me--this is the perfect opportunity for a

Postcard Exchange!

Here's how it works!

1) Reply to this thread saying where your postcards will be coming from. Are you in New York? Iowa? Oxford? Magnitogorsk? Include a picture if you feel like it! Also, make sure to include any restrictions you want that will make you comfortable: if you only want to send a few postcards, or if you don't want to send mail outside the country, just say so. It's fine. ♥

2) Reply to anyone else's message saying you want a postcard from them, if you do! (Just speaking for myself, I plan to get greedy. Nom nom nom postcards.) Once the sender has confirmed that they will send a postcard to you, you then private message them with the address you want it sent to.

NO ADDRESSES POSTED ON THIS THREAD, PLEASE!
Swap addresses by PMs ONLY!
Violators will be screened! =D

Any questions?

I want postcards, but I'm not comfortable with giving my address out to strangers. What about me?

You don't need to give out your home address if you don't want to! Renting a post office box for six months is not very expensive. You may also be able to get your mail sent to your school or workplace (just make sure you ask permission first!).

Also, please note this exchange is for POSTCARDS ONLY--no mail, no envelopes, nothing concealed. It's not a security guarantee, but hopefully that helps to put your mind at ease a little. =D

I'd like to send postcards, but I don't want to receive any. Is that okay?

That's very generous of you! Of course it's okay!

I'd like to receive postcards, but I don't want to send any. Is that okay?

That is greedy! No you may not. D=

Isn't international mail expensive?

Not for postcards! If money is a concern, just say in your post that you're only willing to send out a couple. People will understand.

Somebody else is already sending postcards from where I live! Can I still participate?

Yes, of course! Getting multiple postcards from the same place is still exciting. =D

The place that I live is boring! Nobody will want a postcard from here/they won't sell interesting postcards in my town!

Your town may seem boring to you, but it doesn't to somebody who lives on the other side of the planet!

Ahhh, I've never sent international mail in my life! What do I do!

Deep breaths!

Sending postcards is super easy: your local post office will be able to tell you how much postage you need, and will sell you the stamps if you don't have any. It may also help to write "INTERNATIONAL" or "AIR MAIL" somewhere visible on the back of your postcard, to make sure it gets sorted correctly at the distribution centers. And then you just drop them into the mailbox! Postcards are designed to be quick, cheap, and easy to send while you travel, so I promise you won't have any trouble with it. =D

Have fun, guys! ♥
