So, as many of you are already aware,
wizzard890 had a sudden-death heart attack last week.
She's okay.
But she's going to be in the hospital for a while, and once she comes home she's going to face a pretty rough recovery. So many of you had kind words for me to send to Emily, and I've pulled those all together and sent them to her mother, so Emily can hopefully read your best wishes while she recovers in the hospital. Some of you, though, had the wonderful idea of sending Emily drawings, or funny pictures, or flash games to mess around with, or FSTs, or--lots of things that I know she'd love to see when she gets home and can start recuperating, but that I can't really pack into a Word document to be printed off.
So, I went and made a new comm.
carepackage It's really simple, you don't have to sign up to post to it. All you do is put your message (or doodle or series of limericks or a link to your FST or anything else that you think might make Emily smile) on the comm, and tag your post with Emily's username. That's "wizzard890." Your post can be as short as you want or as long as you want, and you can post as many times as you want: all I ask is that whatever you post, for it to be something that will make Emily smile. She's going to need a lot of reasons to smile when she gets home.
When she gets back from the hospital, she'll be able to go to
http://carepackage.livejournal.com/tag/wizzard890 and see everything we've left for her. I think that might be really nice.
On a more general note: I realized, while I was putting this comm together, that other people might want to make care packages for their friends who are sick or hurt or away on a long trip. To that end,
carepackage is available for everybody. It works the same way as it does for Emily: just tag your post with the username of whoever you want to send a gift, and then link your friend to
http://carepackage.livejournal.com/tag/THEIR-USERNAME to deliver the care package. Anybody can make a new tag.
I don't intend to promote this comm, or moderate it in any way, so I hope that if you like this idea you'll let people know about it. And I hope that everyone will respect that this is a goodwill comm, for people who need goodwill the most. ♥
Thank you, everyone. Your generosity and kindness is going to make Emily feel so much better.
