Hey guys--come play with me. What do you think are the most significant events in the history of Western civilization?
---
Obviously this is a very sternly abridged list, and there are lots of other things I wanted to include, but there's only so many ticky boxes you're allowed to have so we will make do. (If you really desperately want to argue for something that isn't on the list, put it in your comments.)
Please choose three ("three") things from the list below. There are no wrong answers; I think someone could pick any three items on this list and argue very intelligently on their behalf. Feel free to be as predicative as you want: for example, if you want to say that World War 2 is more important than World War 1 because World War 2 determined the face of the modern era, that is a very sensible point of view, and if you want to say that World War 1 is more important because World War 2 couldn't have happened without it, that is also perfectly sensible, and either way you don't get any bonus points.
If you'd like to include a little information about yourself in your comments, that would be lovely: age and country of origin obviously play a part in these kinds of selections, plus anything else you feel is relevant. What I think is really interesting about these kinds of questions isn't so much what we think, but why we think it.
So, yeah!
