To tell you the truth, I've never been very interested in the pairing - you could even say that I didn't like it, but I have a reason for writing all this in the past tense, as you may have noticed. I think this fanfic changed my view a little and the intense conversation between the two nations just made me realise how deep can the emotions between Russia and America run, especially when we take into consideration their histories as countries, as nations.
I really liked it. A lot.
I knew I could expect something good, because if someone takes up such a difficult, ungrateful, ambiguous and repeated (yet interesting) theme as is religion, he must really know how to write. : ) And I wasn't disappointed in the slightest, since my expectations weren't met. No, they were overcame by far. ♥♥
Firstly, I loved how you jumped right in the middle of the conversation - I'm not sure if this is your customary writing style, but I really liked it. The way you shape sentences, the conversation, the way you jump from one character's reply to the other- I adored everything. I have so many loved lines in this story, for example: [...] If you don't reject illusory happiness, you can never find real happiness., or [...] We're all bastards. Otherwise we wouldn't be alive. and especially the last line. It sent chills and good goosebumps all over my body - but they were good chills and goosebumps. Scared, yes, but somehow they didn't feel like those you will feel while watching a horror film, but more like those you'll get while feeling cold. : )
And I think you can already see that I really really enjoyed Russia's part of argument - it was amazing and you executed somewhat popular opinion about God masterfully and brought so many new ideas into it - I simply L.O.V.E.D. it! : ) America... was America. He was his usual naive self and I liked that about him, too. I'm not going to start on the fact that my views on God are different (partly because I'm lazy and because it's late and my brain is protesting, partly because I'm writing you a very long annoying comment. Eh, sorry.) I just want to say that I more than enjoyed the dialogue. It was brilliant.
And I liked the basic point of the whole fanfic as well - that all nations have their history of bloodshed, of sly lies and hidden intrigues, of tears and of misery, of treachery and murders. And that after all...
[...] nations all go to hell. ♥♥ It's no laughing matter, but it's just so true that I can't help but agree wholeheartedly with Ivan.
Great fanfic, I enjoyed it, savoured it, liked it and hated a bit for converting me into liking Russia/America. ; ) But just a bit.
You're a very talented writer.

Nice to meet you! XD

Yeah, I do that a lot, especially with one-shots. Jumping in medias in res saves time.

Neither of them expressed anything approaching my views about religion, but I figure, hey, nobody asked me. XD
Thank you, I'm really glad you liked it! I've been wanting to write something like this for a while, but I was a bit nervous, since it's such a personal subject. I hope I see you around some more--I do (occasionally, these days XD) write things that aren't Russia/America, so you should be safe. I love seeing really thoughtful comments like this--they really make writing these fics worth it. =D
