Oh dear. I'm a huge Cold War shipper and not a US/UK shipper at all, but this thing kinda felt like getting all the air sucked out of me. It was really...tense. You can cut it with a +9 sword O_o

Ditto on the shipping fronts, but, yeah, this isn't a...pleasant encounter. I expect England's going to lie awake and think about this at night for quite some time.

*gets to use her new America icon for the first time* Dammmmmmn, this part is grabbing onto my imagination and NOT letting go. The thought of cold!America, with a scar, is surprisingly intriguing. Actually, not so much the cold - I mean not surprising, because I've always loved the idea of America being a ruthless, canny bastard beneath his "Look at me, I'm an amiable idiot" exterior - as the scar.

And the scenario with England - England betraying himself, America's abrupt dismissal - I was like, OH SNAP, BRITISH EMPIRE. YOU GOT TOLD.

....Still more US/UK shipping than Russia/America, but such is your power of writing that I don't actually care, and am finding this Russia/America dynamic delicious. The "I don't love you _anymore_" thing got to me though.

Russia/America is one of those relationships that like, if one of your friends were in it, you'd want to kidnap them and move them to another state and send them to a mental health clinic for deprogramming, because after all the awfulness of the Cold War, they just get stranger and stranger and stranger. But--it's the happiest they've ever been. It's so weird and delicious and I'm glad you enjoyed this snapshot of it, too. =D

And what I want to know is, who would kidnap whom? I can see Belarus seeing America's influence on her brother as distinctly troubling. And you know, before your fics, I would have been like "How in hell is something like Russia and America happy? How could they be happy this way?" but after reading the other fics, the build-up and your characterizations of them both, I _can_ see it and the glimpses like these are so rewarding. Mmm.

Fights urge to try hand at Russia/America.
