Full Canon Name: Mammon of Greed
Canon: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Canon Justification: N/A
Age: Appears to be in late teens/actual age is approximately 1000 years old
Gender: Female
Furniture Justification: Mammon is Furniture in canon.
Appearance: In human form, Mammon is a young woman of average height with long brown hair and red eyes. She wears a very short black skirt that flairs out in the back, showing off her nicely shaped rear end. On the left side of her skirt, the One-Winged Eagle is emblazoned in gold. Her upper half is clad in a fitted red suit jacket coupled with a white blouse and pink tie. The whole outfit is finished off with a pair of black thigh highs, garter belt and brown heeled boots.
In her true form, Mammon is an extremely sharp stake with occult symbols carved into the handle indicating her name and the sin she represents.
Personality: As one of the Seven Sister of Purgatory, Mammon represents the sin of greed. As such, she embodies those traits. Greed is not just a desire for material wealthy, but also represents ambition, a thirst for knowledge and holding onto relationships of any sort. Mammon is the most emotionally honest of the stakes when it comes to the way she feels and reacts to things. Because of this, she tends to be on the rude side, speaking her mind when she believes it will get her the result she wants, disregarding protocol when it suits her. She is quick to act, taking advantage of anything presented to her, and will do anything to achieve what she desires.
When it comes to her master, both Beatrice and Ange, she never holds back on the amount of effort she puts into the orders she is given. She believes very much in hard work and constantly pushed Ange to strengthen her magic so she could summon all seven sisters. Mammon wants to have the strongest, greatest master possible. That does not mean that Mammon is bereft of a cruel side. She is, after all, Furniture specifically created for a sacrifice ritual. She takes pleasure in 'playing' with Battler and doing her duty in the resurrection ceremony, indulging in the emotions the murders invoke.
When Ange demanded the stakes kill her classmates, they were unable to comply because Ange's magic power was not strong enough for her to carry the deed out. When Mammon was the only one left after Ange had denied the existence of them all, Ange demanded that Mammon, her friend, carry it out, Mammon did not just try to calm Ange down and avoid destruction as her sisters had. Mammon told Ange that if she bloodied her own hands by taking the stake that Mammon was and plunged it into her classmates herself, she would kill anyone for her. Yet, Ange was unable to do that and denied Mammon's existence. Mammon's last act before she was erased was to sarcastically point out that there was no greater honor for Furniture than to be used as a target for its master's anger, that she was Ange's first friend and would be her last friend.
When it comes to her relationship with her sisters, Mammon tends to be the instigator for conflict between the sisters, relishing in the emotions stirred up and the tidbits of knowledge revealed. She looks to bring out those raw emotions her sisters hide so they can all grow, be better furniture for their master, and to bring the sisters even closer through the course of resolving the conflict. She treasures her sisters and wants to increase their value and worth; the better Furniture they are, the longer the sisters will be together and active. She has a constant competition with her younger sister, Beelzebub, about which of them can do things first and is one of the ringleaders in teasing her elder sisters, Leviathan and Lucifer.
Strengths/Abilities: Mammon has been around for a while, so she knows a lot about the occult and magic. She also likes to read to garner new knowledge, so she can pull obscure facts from the recesses of her mind. And since, in canon, she has been able to cut a bullet in half with her locus, she has uncanny perception and could be considered skilled in sword arts for dueling purposes.
Powers: Mammon's powers are as follows:
Transformation - Mammon's true form is that of a sacrificial stake. She can transform into a stake at will. In this form she moves faster than the average human eye can see, ricochet off of any surface at great speed, allowing her to target those not immediately in sight. This is her most powerful method of attack, able to penetrate bone easily.
Summonable: Mammon can be called to her master's side at any time from any location dependent upon the level of anti-magic toxin. She can also disappear at will and 'hide' herself from sight.
Phasing: Physical barriers are nothing to Mammon. She can pass through them as if they didn't exist. Magical barriers are another matter altogether.
Locus: Mammon can call forth a glowing blue sword-like weapon from her arm, capable of cutting bullets, gun barrels, and flesh as if it was butter.
Sin Sense: Mammon can detect if her target has committed the sin of Greed.
Weaknesses: As a magical creation, Mammon's greatest weakness is the anti-magic toxin found in humans. She cannot manifest in a place of extreme toxin levels and weapons like guns can harm her. Having her existence denied is like having the toxin shoved directly into her bloodstream where it burns and, if denied strongly enough, cause her to shatter and go wherever broken Furniture goes until she has time to be repaired and summoned again.
As Mammon is the stake that represents the sin of Greed, she is incapable of harming anyone that has never committed the sin. Even a momentary moment of greed will condemn a human to death should Mammon target him/her. Also, as Mammon is Furniture under the Mariage Sorciere alliance, she is bound by the non-interference/non-aggression agreement and cannot go against her master's orders.
Background: Mammon is one the the Seven Sisters of Purgatory aka Seven Stakes of Purgatory - high-level Furniture created by Beatrice for the Resurrection Ceremony. Each stake represents one of the Seven Deadly Sins and are named after the demon that governs that specific terrace of Purgatory. Mammon is the fifth sister (from eldest to youngest) and represents the sin of Greed.
The stakes follow their master's order and will kill without mercy. Furniture's greatest joy is to be used, so the stakes strive to be the best at what they do to keep their master happy and themselves needed. Just like any piece of furniture, the stakes can change 'owners' if their current master deems it so. Such an exchange usually stays within the witch alliance they are part of, the Mariage Sorciere, but that is not always the case. Regardless, Furniture is happiest when it is used, so who their master is really doesn't factor much.
