maybe you could look at bullshit Christian RE as just one of the many options that the world offers our kids rather than a life changing influence ( ... )

I'm sorry for causing offence. I know you're religious and my big mouth can get away from me sometimes ( ... )

Don't be silly, we're all good!

Oh for quilting time - must finish my Dad's birthday quilt tonight. It's his 70th on Saturday.

I knew when I wrote that we'd compared God to the Easter bunny that that was quite likely to offend, but it was an honest comment of what we had told our eldest... That was the comment I meant. Also referring to CRE as BS is not exactly a polite respectful thing to say about others' beliefs...

I have only one close friend I can think of that is actively religious (Baha'i), and for her it's a very private matter. But that indicates to me that where we live, we're not a Christian community, we're most definitely a secular one (and a very multicultural one too).

We have taught respect at home, and it's an ongoing thing. So far mostly in terms of 'we choose not to eat meat, but others do eat meat, and we have to respect their choice to do so'. We have said that sort of thing in terms of religion, but it's such an abstract concept for littlies to grasp that the meat issue is more concrete and easier to understand.

So... now that I've made myself clearer... I think we agree that religion is the family's responsibility? No matter what the beliefs behind it are.
