Slammiversary

I watched Slammiversary this week.

It's probably the first TNA PPV I've watched in hmmm... maybe two years? It was getting good comments so I thought I'd try it and I was actually really impressed.

Watching the opening match, Austin Aries vs. Samoa Joe for the X Division Title, was like seeing an old friend again for the first time in years.

I'd heard good things about Bully Ray and his new character and wow, that's the dick he was born to play, isn't it? He's dropped weight and genuinely looks like a loud mouthed bully that could kill someone. And that Joseph Parks stuff? I expected to hate it because it's such a hokey and stupid story, but Abyss plays it so well that I was actually rooting for him. Such a perfectly planned and executed match and story between a bully and a 'non-wrestler'.

And AJ & Angle vs. Daniels & Kazarian... squeeeeeeeee. They hit all of the signature and well used moves but it actually made sense in the flow of the match instead of being random high spots (like a lot of X Division and Angle matches have been). AJ's springboard shooting star was pretty!

Good to see that TNA and WWE can do business when it's mutually beneficial as Christian's appearance was nice. He did nothing of note (of course) but it was good to see him in a TNA ring again, even if it did have less sides!

Bobby Roode is quite fantastic, isn't he? I'm getting Triple H circa 2000-2001 vibes from him and that's a very good thing. I hope they continue to push him.

Maybe I'll check out the TV show this week. Maybe.
