I went through a phase over the last couple of weeks of listening to lots of random music during my commute to work and my lazing around time at home. I listened to a lot of albums and artists that I've really neglected over the last few months, and I really enjoyed rediscovering some of them. I'm still kinda plowing through my music collection at the moment!
It meant that apart from watching the WOWOW broadcast and the videos that have surfaced since, I didn't hear GACKT sing once for about two weeks.
On Friday, when I had my long commute to that random school I was sent to, I felt like listening to him again so I put on the GACKT playlist. Taking a break is always a wonderful thing (even if it's only a short two week one!), because everything sounds so much better again when you go back! お帰り indeed.
During that commute, there was one song that really jumped out to me again...

I remember when I first started listening to him, it was alongside a number of other Japanese artists. Because I was listening to so many different bands at the same time, nobody really had chance to stand out too much because I was only hearing a handful of songs from any one artist in one sitting. It was too much new information in too short a period of time to take it all in! (That's why it's very hard to for me to remember first songs.. or first feelings... it's all just mixed and jumbled in my mind. I'd love to join in with some of these questions on the
ohgacktyoudidnt 100 questions meme but I simply can't remember :-/ I kinda flowed from being a casual fan to a hardcore one and never had that "HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOME" suckerpunch moment that most seem to have had.)
When I got more familiar with the artists and songs, Secret Garden was probably the first song that I really fell in love with and made me decide to concentrate on GACKT over the other artists. I love the dark, dirge of the music and his voice is really captivating. It's not the usual type of song you'd expect, but that's GACKT all over.
I heard Secret Garden again on Friday, and it pulled those same feelings. Amazing that it can still do that, after all of these years.
Hmm, this entry really doesn't have a point, hahahaha. Take a break, rediscover, and Secret Garden is really underrated - I think that's the point XD
