Hey! Lets go boating!

I guess it`s that time of year again. People are out using their boats again and enjoying the lovely South Caroina waters. This also means boating accident time, and let me tell you it`s back FULL FORCE. We have had three serious accident in the last two week, with the worst of all Sat.
As from the local paper,

Authorities released more information Sunday about a boating incident on the May River in Bluffton that sent a woman to the hospital by helicopter Saturday evening.

Shelly Burgado, 23, of Bluffton was in critical condition Sunday afternoon, according to officials at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

Burgado was on a boat towing a wake boarder, and the wake boarder fell, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report released Sunday.

Burgado fell into the water when she was walking toward the bow as the boat was turning around after the wake boarder had fallen, the report stated. The back of the boat struck Burgado as it was turning.

Burgado was transported by EMS and later airlifted to the hospital.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources was investigating the incident, the report stated. DNR officials could not be reached Sunday.

Now being in the emergency field I read the report on this call, and it was pretty graphic. She was cut across the mouth, ear to ear, by the prop and her mandible ( jaw ) was hanging off. Her leg was also only held on by skin. So after reading this report I didn`t think twice about the name of the patient. Well then I got the call it was a very, very good friend of mine.

So it`s a pretty crumby day today, my thought a and prayers are with Shelly and her family. Why do really bad things happen to really good people?

Here`s a pic of Shelly.

One of the most bubbily, sweetest people you could ever want to meet.
