My assigned teacher is Clare Brimer, who teaches World History and AP Psych at FWBHS. I worked with her 2nd period World History and 3rd period AP Psych today. She's really nice...and young! I think she said she was 30! In my mind, that makes her a good role model for me...she's I'm gonna be a young teacher also. She likes to use as many visuals in her class as possible, and looks down on "couch history teachers" that just use an overhead and lecture on and on... I like that about her!
World History was fun - she was introducing them to the founding of Rome myth today... I'm really happy that I get to work in a World History class because this really is what I want to teach! I love this stuff!!
Psych was kinda boring today - they had a test all period, so it was just silence, lol... it gave me time to observe the classroom environment tho, which was nice... normally I'd stay for her 4th period Psych class also, but they're having a test today too, so she suggested I go ahead and leave early today
Mrs. Brimer let me enter some grades into Pinnacle - she even got me to grade a worksheet that 2nd period did in class (it was a simply "give them points for doing each thing" not accuracy)... so that was interesting. She's gonna let me create a lesson plan or two...she's also going to see if she can arrange with a colleague friend of hers who teaches AP World History to let me sit in her class occasionally
I think I'm really gonna enjoy working with her and in her classrooms... Definitely gonna take in mind some of the things I see in there whenever I start teaching
