N calls me at about 8 am, and pretty much begs me to allow them to stay over at my place with the baby. Apparently P doesn't have any hot water over there because there's a problem at the building, and he said his mom's b/f was being weird about watching her. I was reluctant, but it sounds like they're out of options at this point. So, for now, we're going to have a newborn at my apartment, and we'll see how it goes. I don't think it's going to be too bad, actually. I've got a fan in the bedroom that easily drowns out background noise. My sister
catchyseachild has offered to help them by sending some stuff their way---thanks, sis!
Ugh. Got a call about the car yesterday, it's going to cost an arm and a leg. From what they told me, the leaking power steering fluid caused problems with the steering column and so they're going to have to fix that as well, I guess. *sigh* M and I were talking about going to lunch today, but I really didn't feel like it after hearing this news.
I did not get a call from L yesterday, and I kept my distance. I was definitely bummed about not hearing from her, but I've said my apology, and there's not much more for me to say 'til she's ready. I hate not knowing anything. Luckily, N talked to her at lunchtime, and told him that she was upset about Saturday night (no surprise), but is cooling off. Damn good thing she's a forgiving person. She did say that she's going to call me later on. Essentially I just gotta be patient and wait & see what happens. Sure wish I hadn't been such a bonehead & pressured her. If it has to end, I don't want it to end this way.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the car to help N get a carseat and stuff they needed, so he ended up calling D. He said D hardly talks, and they both noticed it smelled funny in the car with him. Guess D knows where I live now, too, since he dropped them off. Not that this is really a worry, just something to note.
N and E came back with the baby around 2:30 or so. She's unbelievably cute! I took a nap from about 3 to 5 pm. Working my second of three nights now.
