I finally got a date to Prom. I would just take my girlfriend, but theres this little, tiny, insignificant problem... SHE LIVES IN FRICKIN OREGON!
So I asked one of my friends (only after my girlfriend having told me she had no problem with me going with a friend of mine if she could do the same), Jessica King, and she said she would. You may or may not recognize the name there; she is the little sister of my friend, Jason. By "little sister" I of course mean that she is the same age as I am, because Jason is about 2 years older than I am.
I know a lot of you are going, "OH NO!!! You asked your friend's sister to Prom!" To which I say, yeah, well, she's ALSO my friend, and I asked Jason if he would care beforehand ANYWAY.
To which the critics in the audience say, "OH NO!!! You asked one of your friends to Prom!" To which I respond with, "Gimme a break here! Its not like I'm goin OUT with her! I already have a girlfriend! Good Lord! Lighten up already!"
Anyway, thats whats going on. Prom itself is 7:30, at the Fort Worth Club, downtown. Afterwards is Senior Celebration, which is basically a big party the school puts on for the seniors, aside from Prom, which is a dance and dinner. At SC, the seniors get to spend "Senior Celebration Points," which is basically money earned throughout the year by attending various games, dances, or other school functions. There is a store, but there is also going to be gambling. I intend on using my blackjack skills. I would save them and spend them, but I didn't go to very many things, so I know I'm not going to have enough points to buy anything good right off the bat ANYWAY. So I figure I've got nothing to lose. Plus, I'm really good at blackjack. I find the game really boring, but I'm good at it. In fact, thats often how I paid for my lunch at school last semester, by gambling durring sociology.
I just realised that I'm way off topic. I've known Jessica about as long as I've known Jason. However, I never really got to know her until the past year or so. One thing to know is that she became a really big Tolkien fan after having seen the first LOTR movie. See, after what happened after the Star Wars Special Edition came out, I've become bitter and resentful towards people that becaome fans of something ONLY after its popular. Anyway, I was frusterated by her sudden love of all things Tolkien, figuring it was just the movies she liked. I found out later, though, that she was about as well-versed in Tolkien as I was. She has read all the books, including "The Silmarillion" (which really shocked me) and (gasp!) "Unfinished Tales." This is a big deal, because almost NO ONE reads "Unfinished Tales." I decided that she was alright in my book.
I just read over what I just wrote, and I sound awfullly pompous, arrogant, and condescending... good job!
