Still haven't started studying! Watch me fail at being academic!
I've decided to tackle the Iceland question, which goes as follows.
Describe the Icelandic settlement pattern and how it impacted the environment (or something to this effect) and describe the social, political and religious aspects that make Iceland unique as a Medieval people.
And next up is Vinland and stuff.
Compare the ways in which Vikings (or Icelanders, Norwegians, Greenlanders, etc...) contacted and interacted with the Dorset, Thule and Aboriginal populations in North America.
Only problem with this one is that the Vikings really didn't have much contact with the Dorset or Thule (unless we're talking about the Norse Greenlanders) and it's likely that they were just curating artifacts back and forth, rather than trading directly with them. So...that's my paper basically.
I was going to do Battle of Hastings, but I don't remember the video well enough, nor do I care. I've gotten to the point of not caring about Vikings alot, which is bad.
greek_amazon gave me a good idea though. She said that for grad studies, I should look at the origins of the fur trade in Europe (like in the 700s) and that way, I can talk about the fur trade and Vikings all in one! Only problem is I don't know much about any of this, which is curious, since I spent a whole year in a class about Vikings.
