I know nothing of coyotes. How do you pronounce it? Ky-Oh-Tees or Ky-Oats?

either is acceptable but ky-oat seems to be the pronunciation of the older cowboy folk. i prefer ky-oh-tee

I agree with you on your preference. When I visited my grandparents in Arizona all the time back in the day, people were talking about ky-oats all the time and it drove me nuts. I mean, I'm pretty sure that 'e' at the end of the word is there for a reason.
