Sisters and such

Not much is going on tonight, Abbey is running around doing who knows what, having a great time, I'm sure, finding out first hand what it's like to do all sorts of cool stuff with your sisters (or brothers in my case). Right now, she is learning what it's like to lead by example. The unfortunate reality of life is that in almost every real situation, you need to lead by example in order to gain the respect of the rest of the crowd. Most times, once you prove yourself (and natural leaders generally prove themselves way more than they need to, but it's good to be safe, right? Once you're on top as the leader, you can relax a bit and just manage the brothers (and sisters), all the while teaching and helping others along the way. But don't forget that to be an effective leader, you need to be in the trenches sometimes. I raked the gravel in the driveway last night!! Woo Hoo!!

Speaking of leadership and sisters, my sister graduates from the US Navy Flight School in Pensacola, FL in one week. This is crazy. I remember when my parents dropped me off for the first time at Cary Hall, my little sister a sad, confused face in the back window of the white Buick Century. My little sister. Flash to 7 years later, she's graduating from RPI, 3.85 in Aeronautical-Mechanical Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, US Navy ROTC, at which point she and the other 15 top ROTC Engineers in the whole nation that year went to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, where she completed her Master's of Aeronautical Engineering in one year. So she's been in Florida a little over a year now, and she's finally on her way out. So I get to fly to Florida for a little break at the end of next week.

I am very proud of my sister Judy's accomplishments.
And I am very proud of the leader Abbey is.

So in any event, I am on my way to visit my constituents, and see how things are at other fraternities.
