i thought i was too old for this crap!

Just got back from the doctor -- it's not strep, or the flu, or tonsilitis. No, it's something I never would have imagined I could get now that I'm out of school.

I have mono.

W.T.F.

Apparently it's going around to adults, and the doc -- who was very nice, thanks geogal -- has seen several cases of it. And since it's a viral infection, there's nothing I can really do about it, except rest rest rest.

It's nearly impossible for me to swallow -- I can't drink or eat, and right now I'm having a cup of tea, the first liquid I've had all day -- so she prescribed some low-dose steroids that should help. They should also help with my fatigue and muscle aches. Last week I had perpetual migraines and was exhausted every night when I went home. I just thought it was work stress, but now... maybe it wasn't.

So I've got anywhere from a week to three weeks of feeling like mulched dirt. I've been ordered to stay home tomorrow and Friday, and needless to say I won't be at the Apollocon meeting Saturday or RenFest Sunday. Hopefully I'll be well enough to work next week (which is a 3-day work week, huzzah!) but if not, I've got tons of sick time that needs using.

Send good vibes/hot chocolate/chicken soup my way. Time for loads of FFXII leveling!
