Nano + Halloween + anime
It's 45 minutes into Nanowrimo, and I've got a little over a thousand words. Ohohoho, hopefully this will be indicative of the rest of the month~. And I promise not to spam too much re: Nano on this journal.
This past weekend (which I consider "Halloween" because that's when I actually did stuff, as opposed to yesterday) was fun. I went to a party dressed as the Winter Queen from Joan Vinge's novels; Shai went as the Summer Queen. Unfortunately it took us so bloody long to get ready that by the time we were ready to go, it was so late we could only go to one party. So I missed showing off and seeing lots of people I wanted to see. Curse my procrastinatory ways!
In fannish news, I watched the first two eps of the Paradise Kiss anime. Just before I watched them, I finished the manga, and I have to say, while the ending was very bittersweet, I did like the touch of realism. So ParaKiss is definitely one of my fav shoujo manga now -- though nothing beats The Wallflower! Sadly, though, I'm still on the fence about the anime. Arashi looks old. And the SD-style takes some getting used to. ...I don't know, there's just something missing from the anime that the manga has. It doesn't quite capture the sense that there's this entirely different world that Yukari gets sucked into -- the almost fairy-tale-esque world of couture and fashion. Maybe it'll get better; we'll see. It's only 12 eps, so I can definitely keep up with it. And how cool is it that the ending song is Franz Ferdinand's "Do You Wanna?" XD
One of my hard drives is dying, and it's the one with my stories, my mp3s, and my photos on it. So, uh, cross your fingers that I can recover the data. The Halloween pics are on there, and my costume was so cool! Must show it off! Not to mention I will be very angry if I cannot recover all my writing. This is why we do regular backups, children. Learn from my mistakes~.
Time for bed so I can kick more keyboard-booty tomorrow. Today. Whatever.
