My theory on why McCain shouldn't be elected:
Its actually very practical. McCain is estimated to be about 70 years of age. The average life span of the human male in the U.S. is around 75 years. So that means McCain has about 5 years left to live. Now a number of things can happen to him in those few years remaining from heart attack to prostate cancer to alzheimers (not that I'm wishing these things on him). My point is: if something was to prevent him from leading the country, Ms. Palin would have to step in. And I'm sorry, but just because she can see Russia from her house does not make her qualified. Why? Because I can see Mexico from my backyard.
Oh yeah, I watched the first two episodes of season 8 of Degrassi. And, maybe its just me, but I think they really are trying to keep their older viewers, despite all the new characters. For instance in the second episode, Mia, this chick who had a kid at 12, gets an offer to be a "model." But in order to get an actual gig, she ends up sleeping with this famous quarterback who is- i don't know how old- and apparently has a wife. Then she does him again, but in a threesome with some other chick. (Does this shit actually happen in Canada!?) They don't actually show the sex scenes, but damn, if i was 13 again and watching this, my whole concept of high school would be fucked up. I remember back in the day, episodes were about whether if the boy sitting across from the girl will go out on a date together. Ooooh no. First of all, how old is this chick? Is she even legal?! I mean she has kid whose half her age! Does she really need to be sleeping around with cheating professional quarterbacks for jobs? And its not like she needs the money, oh no, she just doing to be with the "in-crowd" at school. (On a side-note I think its the high school element that breaks the reality of the show. Because she looks old in the face, possibly 20-21, I almost would consider this a real-life situation, until she goes back to high school the next morning again. Then it just kills it.) As horrible as this sounds, it kept my attention and i WATCHED IT, so maybe those Degrassi writers do know what their doing.
