the customer on her way into the store to verbally harrass me some more.

the backstory:
at 8:10 i get a phone call at work. the customer bought a book saturday, but before even leaving the store with it found out that the intended receipent already had it. she returned the book and the transaction was supposed to be voided. ok, all well and good. however, the money was taken from her account, but not returned. so, we have a problem. if she brings in her reciepts i'll be happy to issue the refund.
in cash, she inquires. no, onto her card. i'll just need her receipts. well, she has a receipt that says the transaction was voided. um, that's going to be a problem. if we've already refunded her then it would probably be best if she waited for someone who knows the system or can call and check on it to come in. they'll be in at 9.
that, apparently is utterly ridiculous. do i mean to tell her that we can take her money and then no one can give it back until 9:00??? (gee, you mean the time most financial institutions open? normal business hours? you mean that 9:00?) she's spent over $1200 per year here and she wants to talk to a manager about me and this situation right now. um, ma'am. have you listened to a word i've said. i am the only one here until 9:00. that's why i wanted you to come in at 9. because that's when a bloody manager would fucking be here.
i was nicer than that. she continued to rant at me. she told me that it was hot and she shouldn't be out in this heat and this was absurd and she didn't deserve this kind of treatment. (and i do?)
finally after more verbal battering i told her to come in, bring all her documentation and i'd go ahead and issue the refund and make copies for my boss since the situation was so weird. she then hung up on me.

it is now 8:55. she's not here yet. so why the fuck was it such a big fucking deal to come in at 9 when there would be a manager? or does she just like making girls cry for NO FUCKING REASON??

on the bright side, i've had one customer come in who was sweet and a delight to help since the phone call. so that was nice. it's good to remember that there are actual nice people.

sidenote:
one cardboard box lost its structural integrity as a result of my feelings about this customer. you served well box. rest in pieces.

update:
she came in. verbally harrassed manager type person until she just ran a refund. we checked the paperwork. we voided the transaction. we got $0.00 of her money. we don't have it. we never had it. but just to make her go away she got a refund. she also flat out lied and said that she'd given me her number and that we should have called if money type person wasn't going to be in by 9. well, no, she didn't give me her number or her name or anything but a headache.
she left very angry and making threats. then called back. finally manager type person snapped and yelled then turned her over to the owner's wife who yelled. we're giving her money to make her go away, but we told her that we knew she was scamming us and that she damn well better shut up about it now. so... yeah. then the two crazy customers that i keep ending up dealing with called. it's one of those days.

crazy, work
