When it rains, it pours
Northbridge fan on my desktop died, and it's gonna take a week or so for replacement parts to arrive in the mail. So I switch over to the laptop, and discover that the HGST Travelstar 1TB secondary drive suffered a head crash at some point. Oddly enough, the drive is still mostly accessible, but Windows Explorer won't let me in and the smart error log goes on for several screens.
So rather than take advantage of the extended warranty from Fry's and go without a computer for 2+ weeks (fuck that noise), I'm just gonna replace the drive myself. SSDs have gotten so cheap by now that I'm thinking I'll just plunk down $100 on a 480GB SSD in a couple weeks (can't afford it now) and then direct-connect to the desktop (by then I'll have that fixed) to recover all of my games.
This has not been my day. :(
