I went to Exeter dontcha know!
Started on the train at 9:30 Friday, arrived at 4ish? It wasn't awful, got a seat and I read Un Nos Ola Leuad (weird welsh book which is apparently a must-read classic) and Archer's Goon (which I haven't read in years!). When I arrived we managed to navigate the buses to our b&b which was 30mins walk outside town, oops! Didn't realise that when I booked it tbh. But it was fine as the buses run really late in town.
We set up shop in our nice room, the Vera Kholodnaya, so named after a Russian silent movie star. All the rooms were named like this: there was an Anna Pavalova, Catherine the Great, Pushkin etc Dunno here they got this idea.
They had two jack russells there! So cute! Ad the garden looked nice, I could see an apple tree and a pond, and a patio with chairs. But we didn't venture out, too busy! Apparently there's a hot tub in the garden somewhere lol!! How gimmicky!
We walked into town and had Pizza Express on Friday (chain I've never been to again!). Saturday we wandered around Exeter all day, walking miiiiiles. Saw the cathedral, looked for a restaurant to eat at that evening, visited cool retro shops, the retro clothes shop, TK Maxx (ooo the glamour!), the Arts Centre thing but were tired so ended up just using their toilets and buying a drink.
Had a lovely meal that night in a restaurant called Cat in the Hat :) I had duck and a coffee creme brulee as pudding yum yum! Matt had sea bass and a cheesecake.
Didn't have any lie ins though, since we thought we'd get our money's worth of the breakfast part of b&b. I NEED A LIE IIIIIIIIN. Will so be sleeping til 1pm at least this Friday. Tiiired.
