Mandatory Christmas Post

Merry belated Xmas everyone, hope you had a good one.

I'm not really a big Christmas fan, but my family are and it's nice to treat them, so I'm happy to celebrate alongside the Christians in my family.

I would have posted sooner, but it has taken me this long to "recover" from the celebrations on the Eve.

I've been really sick the past week or so, off work, throwing up and just lots of other horrible stuff, but fortunately I was better by the 23rd and decided I should go along and visit the more rambunctious section of our family on Christmas eve. I think everyone has that section of their family, where as soon as you get your boots off they hand you a glass of mulled wine and keep it topped off all evening.

I arrived at half four, got home at about quarter to midnight.
Pretty sure I couldn't see straight. There are photos on facebook that I don't remember being taken that I'm in. Luckily I tend to be a quiet and sleepy drunk, so I don't think I made an ass of myself.

What I discovered yesterday when I logged back into Tumblr (after arriving home and being horrifically hungover from Christmas day at my parents) was that I had done several very out of character things with my online persona.

Fictional flavour of the month is Andy St John (from The Walking Dead Game - yes I know how morally screwed up that crush is) but apparently on Christmas Eve, at about 1am I started awkwardly roleplaying with one of the Andy St John players on Tumblr. Because that's what I do apparently, I think fictional murderers need cheering up around Christmas time so I go give them bottles of wine and try to convince them that they are nice people really. Bless that really sweet roleplayer who completely indulged me and even made him wish me Happy Holidays and tell me to look after myself before I went to bed for the night.

I say "went to bed" because at about 3:30am when I turned off my laptop my phone bleeped and it was my friend, wishing me a Merry Christmas and somehow that conversation turned into a huge Christmas AU roleplay situation of the St John family. The last message of which was sent at 5:10am.

I only remember this because my phone is flooded with messages from fictional Alternate Universe kiddies asking their parents awkward questions over the dinner table.

Which meant that when I woke up on Christmas morning I was greeted to the following text message:
"Ya tellin' me that you had sex with mama?! I hate you! I hate you all. You gon' 'n' ruined Christmas again uncle Danny"
With no memory of this conversation and ZERO context.

I love my friends.

((Edit: On closer inspection this morning, my phone appears to have been filled with images of Andy St John and there are several new Country music tracks in my playlist that weren't there on the 23rd...hmmm. ))

My parents were really sweet this year, they got me both The Walking Dead comic Compendiums - those aren't cheap and I'd only mentioned that I was looking at getting the first one is passing (because I think my mother always wanted a girly girl she could buy pink clothes and make up for but she got stuck with me instead) and it was really wonderful that she indulged me and got me Zombie themed stuff instead. We even made it through all of Christmas without one mention of how I need a boyfriend or how I haven't got kids yet. So all in all, nothing to complain about.

My sister even made a genuine effort to be nice.

It was a good Christmas.
