Because I've been putting off writing about Anime North for a while, I may as well start now. I won't go into all the details; let's just say it was a learning experience. Here are the highlights.
Friday: The Day I Scarred Amanda For Life
-Dragged
meloise to her very first con, and frightened the poor girl to death. *wide smile*
-Waited in line to get in for an hour, and got mocked by a certain wench who had an Artist Alley pass and got to bypass the line entirely.
-Tried to convince Amanda that deep, deep down in the depth of her soul, she truly loves anime.
-"GIVE ME MY PORING DOLL BACK!" "NO!"
-Attempted to tear Amanda's gaze from the pavement because she kept refusing to look up. Pfft, silly girl. There was nothing to be afraid of~
Saturday: SHUT UP OR I'LL EAT YOUR BABIES!
-Clung to the hotel walls and hummed the Mission Impossible with
rhiann in our pursuit of drinks.
-Stuffed $2 worth of nickels and dimes into a pop machine, pressed the button, and watched in fascinated horror as NOTHING HAPPENED.
-Witnessed another guy come by, stuff some change in the machine, and had his pop slide right out.
-Crumpled on the floor in front of him, and proclaimed that this was the work of the Pop Machine From Hell™
-Was dragged through the dealers room roughly 34869386.65 times while Nunesy searched for her manga
-Could not find a single piece of FMA merchandise, except for this one poster which happened to be SOLD OUT.
-Gave up on my digital camera, which kept blurred pretty much every picture I took.
-Was too shy to ask most of the people I wanted pictures of if I could take any. Curses. And naturally when I did, they came out blurry.
-Whimpered upon seeing what her owner insisted was "Sexilicious Barbie".
-Saw a Guu cosplayer and didn't get her picture. Oh how I regret that, seeing as I can't find any pictures of her now.
-Enjoyed lunch at Swiss Chalet, and overheard someone question the waitress as to why people were dressed so oddly. You could definately tell who was from the con, it was hilarious.
-The blackout. Oh, the blackout. It was kind of an annoyance, seeing as Nunesy's parents were coming early to pick us up, but it certainly spawned memories. Like when everyone started yapping and the person behind us shouted "SHUT UP OR I'LL EAT YOUR BABIES!"
Sunday: Was This Really Worth It?
-Jenny came over to my house early, and we worked on our costumes, Mio and Mayu. We thought it wouldn't take too long since a lot of it had already been completed, it just needed a few touches here and there.
-It took 5 hours. @w@
-Spent a grand total of 2 hours at the con that day, going to very few events and getting our picture taken once. The lack of pictures may be because we were covered up with sweaters most of the time. The joys of wearing a skirt in the freezing cold.
-Jenny bought Chip Bag II, which I quickly befriended. If you remember from my entry about AN last year, she bought a chip bag and I was hugging it and proclaiming to the world that it was my best friend. Got quite a few strange looks and comments about it, I can't imagine why.
-We had to take the bus home, in the pouring rain and frigid temperature. In skirts, nonetheless.
-In short: we froze to death. We ended up huddling for warmth. Oddly enough, I find that part the most memorable.
It was disorganized, we nearly got hypothermia, I hardly got any pictures (I didn't even get one of
stray_wind in one of her costumes ;__;) or went to many events, and I didn't spend any money other than that wasted on food, but my overall con experience wasn't that bad. I probably say that because Jenny didn't find a Dir en Grey cosplayer to force me to pose with like she said she would.
