Go Tell Aunt Rhody...

Yes, I am still alive.

God help me, I'm actually writing a Supergirl/RE7 crossover. I thought it might be fun to take everybody's favorite National City lesbian detective and put her in Ethan's place, and see what happens to her when she goes through the horror of the Baker house. ;-D I love Ethan as a protagonist, but I just couldn't resist the temptation! Here's a preview of it:

From: Mia Santos
Sent: July 18, 2017 11:04PM Tuesday
To: Maggie Sawyer

Dulvey, Louisiana
Baker farm.
Come get me. Almost no time left.
Please.

Maggie was almost one hundred percent certain it was a prank. There was just no way that this could possibly be true, after three years of complete silence. But, memories of their past time spent together and sheer curiosity had won out in the end. Their shared Hispanic heritage had given them a connection Maggie had rarely felt with anyone else, and Mia had been so open, kind, and understanding about her situation. Those years together had been some of the happiest in Maggie’s entire existence, among what had been a very dark period in Maggie’s life. And then she had disappeared, with nary a word. Except for that e-mail telling her about something dangerous, warning her to stay away. Maggie was no fool, she knew that Mia was a warm, kindhearted person, but her first thought was that there was a dangerous aspect to Mia’s chosen career, and she hadn’t been telling Maggie about it. What had her girlfriend gotten herself involved with? Was it a terrorist group? Or some kind of crime syndicate? The thought had left Maggie in a dazed panic, that maybe she didn’t really know her girlfriend at all.

They had searched all throughout for her, with every resource they had. Maggie had called in every favor she had as a rookie cop, and they had been happy to give them to her at first. But they had failed to find any trace of Mia, no matter how hard they tried locating her. And the area where she was supposed to be at registered no trace of any unusual activity. That called the terrorism theory into question, ruling it unlikely. And there was no sign of any crime operation, or anything remotely like that. There was a theory among some colleagues in the force that maybe Mia had been running a meth lab, and Maggie had been too distracted to notice, the stupid, newly in love lesbian, ignoring all the obvious flaws of her partner, because she didn’t want to face reality. Maggie thought they were stupid. Maggie knew Mia wasn’t a junkie, and besides, there was absolutely no evidence pointing to that conclusion. A laugh at her expense - that’s all it was, and one she didn’t appreciate at that moment. All in all, the police force had simply given up after a while. They couldn’t afford to waste resources on someone who wasn’t going to be found, they had told Maggie, no matter how much they sympathized with her. The case had been passed on to the FBI, and they simply weren’t that interested in it. Last thing she heard of the subject matter, it had quietly been shelved.

And that was it. Mia had disappeared from her life, in the blink of an eye.

Maggie always wondered what happened. It would have been impossible for her not to, to move on with her life quickly just like that, pretending nothing was wrong. She doubted herself often, far more than any single person had a right to. Perhaps she had been a fool, like her colleagues said, and Maggie was just too blind to realize it. Perhaps Mia just wanted to get away from her.

*I can't write straight novelizations, I just can't. :P I always change something, as evident in 'Dark Descent', whether it's adding new characters, or having it set in an alternate universe, etc.; and this will be no different...

The story will mostly be the same as RE7, except with the added Supergirl twist. :-)
