knit this, bithces!

i've finally finished my sweater, which almost became a single sleeved sweater - after all the trouble of figuring out how to get the sleeve right...i then finished it and realized i just had to start over at the beginning and do it again. but now the pieces are done, the ends are tucked, and i've seamed, so just in time for the hot, humid summer, i have a lovely sweater! it only took...let's see...18 months! in terms of hours actually applied...i dunno, over 100 but less than 500? i did do a lot of ripping out and starting over.
it did come out o.m.g. soft and fuzzy, though heavy - doubling the too-light yarn has resulted in a too-thick result, damnit - and one sleeve is longer than the other even though both have the same number of rows. maybe washing and massaging will improve that. it's very warm, but the v-neck is almost off the shoulder on me, and deep; so when it's comfortable to wear it does have a little bit of chill right across the chest. even with the shortcomings i can't claim to be disappointed, it's a whole sweater, and i made it. if you have the stitch n' bitch pattern (or access) and have been eyeing this sweater lovingly, it does in fact look lovely *and* flatter even the less shapely. though possibly a braver woman than i should wear it. (it does rather threaten to bare your tatas)

after searching the local shops without luck i ordered myself a very long circular needle (well, two)  in a size 2 and picked up a self striping cotton blend; and next, there will be socks. i know everyone oohs and ahs over merino wool, but i find it prickly. although i did fondle lovingly a really fondlable merino/silk blend. but it doesnt stripe, and i want to see stripes....i've filed it away for later. however the variegated yarn i chose looks like it will produce small blobs rather than stripes. i'm dubious (after casting on) but we'll see.
