My car door doesn't like to unlock. There's something wrong with the handle and it makes it difficult for me to just unlock the door without trying for about five minutes. Because of this, I've developed the habit of not locking my doors or rolling up my windows whenever I go anywhere because, well, there's nothing of value in the car ever, and it's flipping hot outside. About ten minutes ago, a torrential downpour started. Five minutes ago, I remembered I left my windows down.
After scrambing to find shoes, I rush downstairs with the dog at my heels and rolled up my windows, only for the dog to jump into my car and refuse to get out because she didn't want to get wet. I stick my top half into the car to try to grab her while she cowers in the corner of the passenger's side, meanwhile my ass is getting soaked from the rain. Eventually I grabbed her and ran into the house, laughing all the way up the stairs.
The past few days have been moody for me, and I haven't been able to get back into the groove of being carefree and happy again. I know things are just starting to catch up to me, but I'm really glad I forgot to roll up my windows tonight. Granted, tomorrow I'll have to sit on a towel while I drive to work, unless Mike picks me up, but the downpour was worth getting soaked to the bone.
Sometimes I forget to just allow things to wash away. Tonight was a good reminder of why I love summer rain showers.
