Irritating new way to advertise

Jun 19, 2002 13:15

I've never much liked most Web advertising. Popups are especially hateful; I don't like having my limited PC compute power wasted on somebody's idiotic ad for microcameras that stare down some anorexic chick's tits. Apparently popups aren't going away, so I just whack 'em as soon as they pop up.

But after replying to one of Foofer's LJ posts, the most irritating popup yet appeared. It looked to be some ad for travel (ya, right, that's going to appeal to the unemployed), but the damned thing HOPPED ALL OVER THE SCREEN, forcing me to chase it in order to kill it! It paused for a few seconds (presumably so one could read the ad), giving me the opportunity to whack the thing....but Jesus God! Who came up with such a terrible idea? This is worse than the sex sites that use pop-up-on-kill! At least with those if you were fast enough you could interrupt the cycle.

Grrrrr. Advertisers suck.
