There's a little black spot on the sun today... Shot with my Sony A200 using 70mm lens and a x2 teleconverter through a #12 welder's glass.
It is remarkable to me that we saw this event today, and knew exactly when it would take place, in large part thanks to men without telescopes who figured out the orbit of Venus with ink and quill, and raw brain-work, 400 years ago. It is a sort of affirmation of our place in a larger universe.
