March means Rockets

Mar 27, 2011 19:50

I've had a rather busy few weeks. Much has been transpiring hereabouts. Perhaps most significantly, kores_rabbit has moved in on a temporary basis to assist in staging our house for potential sale later in the year. It is pleasant to have another nerd about the place.

Other things that have happened include:
  1. My first performance review, which was conducted over sausage and eggs at a greasy spoon.
  2. My first Hackmaster game in six years (run as a one-off for kores_rabbit's 4e group.)

  3. An excellent Star Wars game session during Earth Hour with commanderteddog, velvetpage and kores_rabbit
  4. We (velvetpage, kores_rabbit and I) had highly pleasant kid-free sleepover with wggthegnoll and ruiskafleck last weekend, with music and moon watching in the country, as well as vast quantities of (mostly) healthy snack food.
  5. Rockets! Elizabeth has decided she likes rockets again, and we've been out twice so far, once with a kit, and once with a homemade child-endangering fire bottle that doubles as a Grade 2 science project.

The reality! Journalism major with zero science skills setting fire to paper astronauts!

I want to stress that I did NOT try to look crazy in that second photo. I honestly just did look that disheveled and manic.

Into ze rocket!

Making an adjustment. The first launch was a failure - the rocket fell over in the wind.

On the launchpad...

Whee! Check out that trajectory!

It went up about 15 feet...

The interior filled with choking smoke. And where is Freddy?

Shaken, but alive!
