Let me be honest with you: Spoon is a band I first heard a decade ago, when I found a used copy of A Series of Sneaks for cheap. I liked it enough, but never listened to it. Whenever I would dig it out to play, it was good, so I kept it. But I never had the desire to listen to it. When Kill the Moonlight came out, my friend Pasha was running a pirate indie CD kiosk at the Gorbushka market, and I could basically get whatever discs I wanted for free/cheap/in exchange for vodka. So, since Spoon still got mad hype, I picked this up. I am sure I listened to it once or twice before filing it away for a rainy day, which came some six years later on a cold November day. But no actual rain, I should note. Listen, this is pleasant enough, and I have no doubt in my mind that I will find it enjoyable when it comes on my iTunes/iPod in shuffle mode (sadly, the main way I listen to music these days), but I just don't really find this memorable enough to want to hear it again. The Way We Get By sounds very familiar, for some reason -- was it a big enough single that I would have heard it? Was it in some TV show or movie? It doesn't seem like today was the first time I'd heard it in six years, but I guess you never know. All The Pretty Girls Go To The City also sounded vaguely familiar, so, same question. Having said all that, should I bite the bullet and rip A Series of Sneaks?

As always, if you decide to download the record from the link above, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
