Wow. Slint - Tweez is so fucking different from Spiderland it is almost hard to believe it is the same band. Listening to this, you can certainly hear its precursor-ness, but it is hard to believe that the band that wrote this underdeveloped record managed to write an all-time classic a mere two years later. This record definitely has an evolutionary feel, as the hardcore kids search for a new sound and are not entirely successful. So, is Tweez a necssity for your record collection? No, but if you are interested in how the road to Spiderland was walked, this is a good milemarker. Is the untitled two-song EP worth ripping?
