I *hate* car shopping. Sleazy, sleazy people, and just not fun.

On other notes, have been rereading my Tim Powers collection, and really have never noticed some of the aching similarities between books (well, yeah, knew the bit about alcohol, and the supernatural (elemental types), but never picked up on the *rhythyms*. poetry a-plenty, but less about what it means, and more about the sounds.... the clochard rhythyms of the WT in Declare, the staccato rhythyms in dinner at deviants, the poetry as music of the spheres in stress, etc.)

Tried getting through autopope's Iron Sunrise, but am just less fond of his stuff, I think. Don't know why, but there you have it. Read his citymate's (Ken MacLeod) Newton's Wake recently, and quite enjoyed it. America Offline kept giving me the snickers, but not as much as his Carlyles. BTW, anyone know if there is a LJ feed of that journal?

Am debating what to (re)read next. Modesitt's Alector's Choice is just out now in HC, but it's one of his poor fantasies, and while I'm obligated to get and read it (I try to do my part to keep him afloat so he can write more SF standalones), it just isn't compelling.

I might try the Outremer books that cosmicdolphin just read (as he shifts onto the Whittemore books), but I'm not feeling very Levantine. Still, I need something for distraction.

Recommendations, anyone? I've got a couple of recommendations from dnereverri to acquire, but am always on the lookout for something good.

On other notes, spent the weekend gaming. Mostly roborally. Still a damn fine game. Also been playing lots of TitanColossus (Beelzebub variant), if anyone is interested in a little network play sometime.

Work is...well, work. 'nuff said.

Oh, and welcome vespid_interest, who managed to sneak on LJ without me noticing. (Of course, I've been totally oblivious, but so mote it be.)
