Politics - Candidates

Why I’m working on Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Like most Americans, I’m eager for change in our government’s policies.

I’m eager for a change of guard and, for the first time in many years, I’m going to be voting Democrat.

Most - if not all - of the Democratic candidates are trying to position themselves as “agents of change.”

Now, it seems to me that there are two kinds of changes that can occur after the election in November.

The first kind of change is where we see all the faces change.  Sure, we kick out the old guard and usher in a new set of faces.  Change.  Oh yeah.  But then, nothing really happens.  Why?  Because the new set of faces doesn’t know how to get things done in Washington.  Remember Jimmy Carter?  We were all set to get rid of the nasty Republicans and usher in an era of Good Works.  But Jimmy and his crew didn’t know the ins and outs.  They didn’t know the way things work in Washington.  Sure, we had our change, but in the end, nothing changed.

It’s the second kind of change that I’m eager for - the kind of change where the policies and politics of our administration are changed - for the better.  To effect that kind of change, the Commander-in-Chief needs to know how to get things done in Washington.  And that, plain and simple, is why I’m working to get Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic nominee for President.

She’s been in Washington long enough that she knows how to get things done.  Like Lyndon Johnson - one of the most effective Democratic Presidents ever -- she knows HOW to change things.  She’s got eight long years of watching her husband drive the buggy, plus her years as a Senator, building bridges on the Hill that can only stand her in good stead when (I’ll be hopeful) she takes the Oval Office.

Among all the Democratic candidates for President, Hillary is the only one in which any of us can have reasonable assurance that she’ll be able to deliver on her campaign promises.

So, sure, her face isn’t a new one.  But let me tell you, I’ll take Lyndon Johnson - yanno, the guy who actually managed to get the Civil Rights Act passed - over Jimmy Carter.

Hillary - you go, girl!
