“I do not understand why you prefer video games to the outdoors,” Lightning brought up one snowy day. He was reclining on the couch behind Beast Boy, who was busy pressing buttons on his controller and moving the strange monkey character on the television screen through a dungeon. Had it not been their last mission, Lightning would’ve thought it strange that a monkey can shoot a laser gun with perfect aim.
“Well, I don’t understand why you don’t think Mega Monkeys VI is awesome,” Beast Boy said. His thumb didn’t leave the A button for a second as he shot down a group of spider ninjas.
“I no longer seek amusement from such juvenile games,” Lightning scoffed. “I prefer going outside. Nothing can beat the marvelous sun, the sky, the thrill in your veins as you fly through the city. It is refreshing, amazing, it is -”
“Fun. Yeah, yeah, I know. I like going outside too, but video games are too fun to resist! Once you feel the vibration of a battle course through your controller, you wouldn’t even think about going outside until you beat the final boss. Speaking of which, can you move over to the right? I, uh, kinda get a little crazy when I play in boss battles.”
Lightning had no choice but to move out of the way, because as soon as those words left his mouth, Beast Boy jumped on the couch and furiously plugged away at the controller buttons as the boss was unveiled. Beast Boy had little to no consideration for Lightning’s face as his foot nearly crushed that long nose of his.w Lightning rolled his eyes when Beast Boy finally declared victory, five minutes later, and insisted on thrusting his butt at Lightning’s general direction during his dance. “Kiss it, Lightning!”
“You are pathetic.”
“Dude, I’m pathetic? Have you even played a game in your whole life?” Beast Boy inquired. “Pac Man doesn’t count. Do they even have games where you’re from?”
“I have!” Lightning huffed. “I did not grow up as a savage, green one.”
“Okay, then prove it. I’ll save my game and let you play a new one, to show me your skills,” Beast Boy offered. “I’ll even go easy on you and hold back from making fun at you, because I know my high score’s impossible to beat.”
“I do not see why I have to do this,” the other said, but he still accepted the offer and took the controller from Beast Boy.
