Is it really necessary for people to "answer-shop"? Hey, sometimes I don't like the answer I get, but I don't go to four different people when I don't get the answer I want.
We had a guy who did that; came in last week, then called twice later in the week, said he'd discuss the matter with the Attorney General, with whom he was having dinner, and finally came in to argue with the magistrate about the same thing. Got the same answer every time! Then he stormed out without paying the small sum of $25. If he doesn't pay within a week, he'll have to pay $60, and eventually his license could be suspended. All because he's bent over having to pay for something he doesn't feel he should have to. First of all, the stupid $25 wasn't OUR idea; talk to the governor, man! Secondly, we're sticking to court policy; it's not like we singled him out for this fee.
What's the point of being on the front lines, so to speak, if no one listens to you? I realize I'm "just" a clerk, but I do know a thing or two after all this time.
