Yup I splurged on a new toy and a new experience. First I bought a GPS navigator, which is something I've been wanting for quite some time. So now I have a Garmin Nuvi 360 that I bought off Craigslist for $100, and it is so cool! Being mathematically dyslexic (aka: dyscalculia) I am always getting lost while driving, or maybe it's because I'm a blonde female, lol. One feature that will be a Godsend on the trip is locating grocery stores, gas stations, entertainment, or just about anything you want at the touch of a button. Type in an address and it'll highlight the route while giving spoken commands on where to turn, and I can even take it out of the car and use it with my bike or on foot. There are no monthly fees, just optional yearly updates, and service is not cut if you don't update. I was so glad to have it while trying to navigate downtown Seattle on Saturday night during a hailstorm!
Anyway using my new toy I navigated my way to splurge #2... seeing Broadway's "The Lion King" at the Paramount Theatre! It was freakin AWESOME!! I'm pretty biased though because TLK is one of my all-time favorite movies, the first movie I ever saw in a theater actually, and now my first Broadway show so I have nothing to compare it to. I LOVED the huge variety of costumes, and the acting was amazing! Anyway here's a shot of the Paramount before the show...
It's much better live, and pride rock is missing from this showing, but here's a clip of the opening score...
