Riddle 016: Child's Play

[If you happen to be out and about today, Mayfield, you'll find a familiar-looking ten-year-old boy with glasses, green suspenders, and an incredibly dorky haircut, wandering around while tugging a backpack that's way too big for him and mumbling to himself.]

"Hey kid! You lost too?"

[Edward scoffs disdainfully.]

I'm not lost.

[heartstar_blues]

"Oh. Well I am!"

[He would smile cheerfully, obviously not bothered by this fact.]

"Can you tell me where I am?"

[puzzlerprince]

Yes. In my way.

[He tries to brush past babby!Cap, trudging forward.]

[The Captain is also 10, but The Captain is a little thicker and a little rougher than this kid. He shoves the kids shoulder and glares.]

"Fine then. Be that way. I don't ☠☠☠☠ care."

[puzzlerprince]

[Edward stumbles forward, adjusting his glasses before glaring back at the Captain.]

"You watch it. No kid picks on me."

[puzzlerprince]

Look. I'm having a really cruddy afternoon. They took away my lunch money, again, my dad forgot to pick me up, again, and I can't find my way home.

[heartstar_blues]

"Oh. I'm sorry.

I learned something about fighting other kids, want me to tell you what to do next time?"

[puzzlerprince]

...huh?

[heartstar_blues]

"Kick them in the nuts. Toe first. It works on adults too.

Do that before they touch you and don't even let them know you're going to hit them."

[puzzlerprince]

i---what?

[He's not much of a fighter. Not at all. If anything, he's more of a punching bag.]

"Kick them right in the balls. They never see it coming and it'll give you time to run away.

Just got to be fast and kick as hard as you can. Don't wait around after either."

...what if I'm not fast enough?

[heartstar_blues]

"Then get to a hiding place quick. Stay silent. Also look for broken glass or rusty sharp metal."

[Kid Captain was tough.]
