Sixty-First Journal Entry

Feb 05, 2011 17:41

To keep my communicator from shocking me, I have a puzzle for everyone.

12 people are traveling in two cars that can each hold six people -- five passengers and the driver. However, one hour away from their destination, one of the cars breaks down. Using the car that is left, how long will it take to get all 12 people to the destination?

communicator, yay puzzles

Uhm, six hours?
One hour to get there with six people, one hour for one person to drive back, another hour for another six, an hour for another trip back, and one more hour for the remaining two people. Is that right?

Of a sort.
I used to play with Duel Puzzles when I was a kid, but I think those might be specific to my world.

Ah, duel puzzles? I am not familiar with the term, no -- could you tell me what they are? [They sound interesting :D]

Well, they're based on the card game we have in my world, Duel Monsters.
Basically, you set up a certain situation, usually with the odds against you, and there will only be one or two moves you can make that will get you out of the situation and win you the game.
Does that make sense? I'm sorry, I'm not really the best at explaining things.

It sounds similar to a chess puzzle.

Then you are familiar with mental exercise. It's refreshing to see that.

Are there not many people here familiar with them?

I certainly don't get as many people who'll attempt my puzzles as I'd like. They were fairly popular, at home.

I see.
Well, I'll be sure to attempt them in the future then. {Smile.}
