One of my favorite parts of Longwood Gardens is the outdoor waterlily display, in an interior courtyard surrounded by the wings of the Conservatory. I've never been anywhere else with such a stunningly gorgeous collection of these fascinating, flowering aquatic plants. The flowers seem to almost glow in the sunlight, and some of the waterplatters are incredibly large. I love the way the sky and plants reflect off the calm waters in the pools.
Some of the photos show young lilypads rising to the surface and beginning to unfurl. Another one towards the end has miniature lilypads growing out from the center of a mature lilypad. The last two pictures are my attempts to photograph the dragonflies flitting about, but they were too quick and too distant to capture clear images of them.
