Flew: Sunday arrived Monday HK left Wednesday and arrived back on Thursday noon-
23 hours of flight back and 13 to go :-)a lot of plane of course, but then a whiff of Dubai again and Bangkok and Hong Kong!
HK more interesting than I thought. Was lucky announced bad weather and rain, rain stopped for my arrival. Town easy to work with even a few hours after just landing you can sort of work yourself around.
Hong kong he feel HK the feel is of a very busy street and pretty noisy.
Sham Shui Po in hong kong metro modern and easy to work out. Sham Shui Po is a huge market in HK area.
Airport is really super one of the best I would say I have seen in my life.
Train to airport: express airport is fast comfortable and really cool.
Most of the things seem very well organised and people are nice, city walking is seems safe.
Very funny: these walking platforms that enable you not to walk on the sidewalks of buys streets..
Shopping seems to be the religion.. so what to do if you are not shopping oriented? Well there might be some things to do actually :-)
Introduction to HK What you can do in HK It is Asia: China for sure.. a lot of Asian faces... which you sort of expect but is surprising especially when you are not used to these relative proportions :-) As close as can get to China !!
The food markets are really interesting.. I saw some in Lan Kwai Fong near my hotel, Lan Kwai fong is the place for expats to party.. lots of bars.. in my view nothing interesting in there..
lan Kwai fong doesn't feel too much like you are in Asia..
Lan Kwai Fong But some like the Asian women... and the like
La kwai Fong area.. I was told to be aware of a lot of transvestites..
But the markets yes.. there is also a large market in Kowloon, the vis a vis part of the city on mainland. Around temple street.. is a bazaar like in Moscow's Luzhniki... and apparently a huge food and flower market which I did not see because was working all days..
HK markets Kowloon is more chinese,
Kowloon HK is more mixed..with the influence of the old British colony.
Even if there seems to be very interesting food, around Lan Kwai Fong.. mostly international western style cuisine and bars for expats?
I would have liked to try that..
this food or that
Dim Sum however went to a place similar nearby my hotel they had no dimsum as it was after 4 pm, but was able to get some noodle soup with duck.
One should always investigate before going to a place to know what to ask for !!
I had a super tapioca desert with exotic fruits that was super good and refreshing I loved it.
that was exactly this
Mango and Tapioca Pearls Dessert but this one seems also very good..
Sai mai lo Egg-tarts or custard tarts from HK street food street Breakfast congee Although if you know there are some chinese places.. of course.. I missed a pure dimsum place because i arrived too late and this I really regret.. But lacquered duck is really delicious.
Duck Seafood market this was indeed the variety of seafood some of which I never saw, and they are in big bins of water so you see the shell and the animal and this was the first time I saw them alive..
Fish market Difficult thing:
saw a little white cat in a cage.. for eating... differences in culture..
Vegetation: a mix of European looking vegetation but when you look closer.. well a lot of tropical plants.. a very nice smell of the vegetation just after rain when running at the Peak at dawn.. mist from rain, earth exhaling wonderful precious smell that I adored.. have to find out what it is..
wild banana, flowering creepers, and tropical vegetation. Densely shaded for most of its length, Lugard Road provides vistas of Victoria Harbour, distant islands, and densely packed city beneath. As seen from the road, most of the surrounding countryside is made up of extensive green hills with few buildings.
While there are a number of houses at various points along its length, Lugard Road-perhaps surprisingly given its harbour and island views-is not one of the Peak's more sought-after residential addresses. The road is too narrow for cars to pass in most places, the cliff sides for much of its length are too steep to build anything on, and the houses scattered along its length are often considered remote and difficult to access.
Lugard road around the Peak I also started around the Po Fu lam reservoir path
Pok fu lam reservoir but bot knowing how much time it would take did not go to the reservoir.. instead ran around the peak.. but missed the beautiful gardens anyway was starting to be dark..
Reservoir view Reservoir view In order for people to figure out what this town can feel like mini window...
I did exactly what this guy did so he filmed and I did not..
A day in HK
